| Profile |
Emma is a qualified Shiatsu and Zen Shiatsu Therapist and completed a Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies at Sydney 's Nature Care College .
With a passion for yoga studies over the last 15 years, Emma realised the benefits of acupuncture and pressure point manipulation and the positive effect they have on her performance, awareness of the body and its power to heal. This has helped Emma in her actively driven lifestyle as snowboarder, skier, mountain bike rider, rock climber, world traveler and outdoor enthusiast.
Her own interests led her to study as a teacher of “Shioki”, a Shiatsu base Japanese yoga in Canada , before continuing to study Shiatsu Bodywork back home in Australia , as a therapeutic method of aiding “dis-eases” and maximizing body movement and potential.
She continues to study and grow within the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine and alternative therapies.
A treatment with Emma combines acupressure with yoga correctives. Her love of food, its preparation and the understanding of nutritive therapy for specific conditions completes a perfect all round body treatment. Shiatsu Therapy helps you on your path to optimum health and well-being; aiding your physical, spiritual and emotional self by stimulating the body's innate ability to heal itself.
Shiatsu means finger pressure: a manual therapy derived from Traditional Japanese theories, evolving from 3,500 years of oriental medical wisdom. It is a vividly alive treatment, incorporating the modern Western Science principles of anatomy, physiology and pathology. Shiatsu therapy is based on the same theory as acupuncture, without needles, applying pressure with fingers, palms, elbows and feet along the pressure points and meridian pathways of the body to stimulate and balance “Chi” (“Qi” or “Ki”), our body's energetic life force.
Shiatsu is exceptionally effective in reducing stress, a major cause of depression, and alleviating an array of symptoms, including:
• Headaches and migraines
• Neck, shoulder & back pain
• Insomnia
• Injuries and muscular pain
• Lack of energy
• Menstrual problems
• Asthmatic symptoms
• Digestive and weight issues
• Emotional conditions |
